Citronella works, but most citronella products typically contain less then 2% essential oils, far less then the 5% recommended to be effective. With an essential oils content of 10%, Amazon Lights products contain 100% to 400% more then the majority of other citronella products available.

Beyond providing a much tougher defense, the blend of rosemary and thyme in Amazon Lights Premium Products creates a more pleasant aroma than other products on the market.

Andiroba Oil is the key ingredient to the Amazon Lights line of outdoor products. The indigenous tribes of the Amazon know andiroba as an exceptionally effective insect repellent.

The Andiroba tree, also known as the Brazilian mahogany, grows in excess of 300 feet. The ANDIROBA tree produces white flowers and fruit, which resemble a large chestnut, containing kernels rich in lipids. One tree produces 200 kilos of seed per year, which in turn yield over 30 liters of oil.

AMAZONLIGHTS is a supporter of Community Trade in the Brazilian Amazon. ANDIROBA Oil, which is the key ingredient for our outdoor product line, is provided to our manufacturing facilities through the indigenous tribes of the Amazon Co-op.
The Amazon forest is rich in medicinal plants and natural oils that have applications for many industries. The co-op believes that the best way to protect the forest is by developing the commercial use of sustainable products from the rainforest.
By providing the tribes a means of trade the co-op is able to promote programs in sanitation, dental care, and education. They also provide legal representation, which gives the tribes a voice and enhances their ability to protect their land.
An important objective of Community Trade is to provide a source of income to the tribes, which will help them to prosper and continue to live their traditional lifestyle.
